FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (mainly from bike light buyers)

Q. What is the difference in mass (and dimensions) of the 4400mA battery and
the 5200mA battery?

A. There is no difference in weight or size. The extra capacity is from a difference in internal chemistries.

Q. Does the Fast smart charger have any drawbacks (ie does it reduce long
term battery life)?

A. As long as the charger turns on and off as it is supposed to then the life is not affected. The fast smart charger charges within the maximum charge rates allowable for the battery cells.

Q. Is it possible to get a bar mount for the light? (Lumen8r)

A. TBA

Q. Do you have an estimate for the burn life of the HID bulbs you use?

A. Estimated burn life is between 500-1000hrs. These figures are approximate and are dependant upon how you use the lamps ie time between on and off.

Q. Are the batteries covered in your 2 year warranty?

A. Yes the batteries are covered if the recommendations are followed in the battery care section. I only cover faulty batteries not ones that do not hold a full charge.

Q. I read the information on your site for caring for Li-ion batteries. Do
the chargers you supply allow charging to 40%. If not, do you have any ideas
how I could achieve this without spending excessive amounts of money?

A. The 40% mark is basically done by fully discharging the battery and then letting it charge for 30minutes with a fast charger and 1hr for a slow charger

Q. Do the batteries have a memory effect?

A. No Li-Ion batteries do not. See battery care information.

Q. What is the average turn around on repairs?

A. 2-5 days depending upon parts.

Q. Can I buy parts and fix it myself?

A. Yes all parts are available including shells and brackets. However if the

unit is under warranty, DIY repairs void warranty.

Q. Do you make an adapter for "X-brand" lights or batteries?

A. Anything is possible.

Q. Are my 6V 2200ma batteries suitable for use with your system?

A. In general No. My system runs off 9-16Vdc.

If you have two 6V batteries for me to adapt to 12V then it may be worth your while.

Most 6V systems have a low capacity so a long burn time may not be possible.

Q. Do you do replacement Nimh or Nicad batteries.

A. No I do not. Try Retrolight.

Q. One thing the review mentioned was the light barrel breaking off the helmet
mount whilst trying to adjust the beam angle. The Magazine thought it may be
due to the glue giving way when the light heats up. They do go on to say
that they were confident you would fix this problem due to the pride you
take in your work. Have you fixed this issue?

A. Yes I have fixed this issue. A new aluminium bracket is attached differently, is much stronger and lighter. It also has the benefit of being more adjustable.

Q. Are your lights waterproof?

A. They are water/splash resistant not waterproof.

Don't go swimming with the light.
